AJ's Seaside Road Withernsea

by Robert Simpson
(Liversedge)

This is not your ordinary Seaside Cafe.

No pie n chips here, it's fresh crab salad, lasagne and the rest.

This is a contemporary cafe that could have been plucked from the city streets of Manchester, Leeds or Hull.

Modern decor/furnishings with home made cooking. The early morning procession from kitchen to front counter is mouth watering - chocolate cake, carrot cake, hot steaming apple pie and scones the diameter of a saucer and the height of everest.

Lots of coffee flavours to try and not just ice cream, but 'Artisan' Ice cream.

Just one little grumble - only two tables outside and they are always full - no good for the many dog lovers passing by!

Great
by: Anonymous

Went to AJ's on recommendation, you wouldnt think it was anything like it is from the outside tho.

It is modern and classy, very clean and there is something on the menu everyone would like, the homemade quiche is particularly nice.

The desserts are huge and look homemade, dont know if they are tho and most people eating seemed to get a dessert too.

Nice selction of drinks and coffees.

Would use this cafe every time in Withernesea now for a light snack.

Hello
by: Anonymous

Hello,
I am a regular in AJs and I can say everything is home-made from the Quiche, lasagne and stews to all the cakes and even the icecream.

It's a shame that they can only put a couple of tables outside but there is a new estate agents Goodwin & Fox opened up nextdoor and as far as I know they own or rent the property, but they have kindly let them have tables out there all year, so I guess you can't grumble too much!

Amazing Homemade Food!
by: Cindy Bonham & Anthony De Vries

We go to AJ's as often as poss even though it's a 10 mile drive. The girls are lovely and often will make us their breakfast omlette even if it's not on the specials board or not breakfast time!

The cappacinos are lovely with a little biscuit, and I especially love the creamy leek and potato bake as I'm a vegetarian. My fiance Anthony raves about the beef stew!

Recently I bought some home made mince pies to take away...oh my goodness the pastry was to die for!

So make a visit, it's worth it! Just be aware they are closed Mon and Tues in winter. This can often cause a huge problem because where can you go in Withernsea that is as good?!!

yummy food
by: alex young

The scones are excellent, it would not be right if we went to Withernsea and did not call in. We have also tried the hot food and this is also excellent.

I agree that when the weather is nice it would be nice to sit outside, but you are lucky if you get a table as it is a busy cafe!
