Bed and Breakfasts in England Reviewed Wolds Village, Bainton, Yorkshire
Bed and Breakfasts in England Reviewed - Wolds Village, Yorkshire
Looking for somewhere to stay that's convenient for the Yorkshire coast, countryside and historic city of York?
Then try Wolds Village - we review one of the more unusual bed and breakfasts in England...
We spent the night at Wolds Village Guest Accommodation after an evening function we held in their Art gallery there...
(Stunning food, massive portions and great service - highly recommended if you're looking for somewhere to host a special event, or party)
We often come here for coffee or a meal, and having followed the development of the accommodation, we had long been looking for an excuse to come and stay here...
Wolds Village is set in rural East Yorkshire, in the pretty Wolds area - lots of pretty villages and countryside walks in the area...
...and is conveniently located for the Yorkshire coast (about a half hour drive) and the city of York - a great spot for a restful, sight-seeing British Isles vacation...
There are seven guest rooms here - all very tastefully built, in historical style.
Each room is different:
Tudor
Georgian
Victorian
Gothic Victorian
Edwardian
Art Nouveau
Art Deco
We stayed in the luxury Victorian bedroom - one of the most popular rooms - decorated in a dramatic red - lovely, warm and cosy.
The room has been decorated with careful attention to detail - really beautiful, with wonderfully crafted furniture and antiques, to get a really authentic and welcoming air.
The room was lovely and clean - and a nice temperature (and with an individual thermostat so you have absolute control of the temperature)...
...with welcoming tea and biscuits to help you settle in.
There was lovely, warm, wood panelling, and a gorgeous, big four poster bed, that was lovely and soft - extra pillows were available in the wardrobe.
The bathroom, too, was very smart, and very clean.
We also peeped into the Tudor Room and Georgian Room, too, where family and friends were staying - both equally beautiful and decorated in the same, exacting, individual style.
We had a great night's sleep here - the rooms all overlook open countryside - I even saw a shooting star out of the window!
In the morning, we went across the courtyard into the conservatory area of the main restaurant for breakfast.
We enjoyed continental breakfast, and a full Yorkshire breakfast - the food was, of course, up to the same high standard as the usual restaurant food here.
We had a lovely function here, and a great night away - we thought it was terrific value for bed and breakfasts in England, in a lovely spot!
(Rate at the date of our visit (September 2010) was £80 per night per room - £60 for single occupancy.)
It's a great location as a base for sightseeing and you have lots on site too:
