Where to Stay...
The Unofficial Guide to Yorkshire Coast Accommodation
If you are intending on spending a weekend away, short holiday or longer break at the Yorkshire coast, you will truly be spoiled for choice with accommodation...
It makes sense to stop a while, to relax and enjoy your visit to the Yorkshire coast...
Even though the Yorkshire coast is only an hour or so from home, we still like to make the most of a short break, and enjoy a stay-away from home...
If you spend a little longer here, you'll get the opportunity to explore further, and see the coast at different times of the day...
I'll never forget the sunset I saw setting behind Whitby Abbey, or in fact some of the lovely sunsets over the sea at Whitby!
I would normally have been going home at that time! So glad I didn't miss those special moments!
I've also seen beautiful sunrises, rainbows in the rain, and snow over the tops of the moors - all beautiful sights that I wouldn't have seen on a day trip!
And of course, the main advantage of staying overnight has got to be the chance to treat yourself to a lovely evening meal...
So let's look at some top options to help you decide where to stay, and where to best enjoy our glorious Yorkshire coast...
Whatever your budget and tastes for where to stay, you will find something to please... and in some of the most beautiful locations you could hope for for your British holidays...
Choose from:
smart, seafront hotels in the main resorts
hideaway boutique hotels in seaside towns and villages
cheerful and charming bed and breakfasts
a 'home-away-from-home' with holiday cottages in Whitby and other seaside villages and towns or smart apartments
Whether you want Scarborough hotels, holiday cottages in Whitby or a fantastic British camping holiday, you are well catered for along the Yorkshire east coast.
Of course, the North York Moors, with it's beautiful scenery and very remote feel, is also just a short drive away, and can give you a holiday full of nature, wildlife and fresh-air...
We did, in fact, have a wonderful short break, in a lovely little cottage, nestled in the hills just outside of Castleton, which was probably one of our most relaxing ever short breaks!
We also enjoyed a short stay in our camper van (a tiny Bedford Rascal, which we still miss!) at a very clean and friendly campsite, close to the coast, at Hinderwell...
And in Summer 2010 we managed a full week in a development of self catering cottages in Whitby, (well, just outside!) which was wonderful for getting to see all the sights and sounds of my favourite Yorkshire coast town!
And we still look back with fond memories on our night (many years ago now!) at the lovely Bay Hotel in Robin Hoods Bay
Although in and around Whitby is always my favourite, we do get slightly further afield - in November 2010, we had a nice short break at a modern new self catering holiday development near Filey....
