Crossroads Cafe in Withernsea

by Michelle Welburn
(Withernsea)

Hi, my name's Michelle and I own Crossroads Cafe in Withernsea.

I have just got the cafe food hygiene rating and we have got a 4 and I'm very proud of this as me and my staff have really worked hard to bring the cafe up to a high standard since taking it over in December, and this has made it all worth while.

I would also like to thank all our customers for their support and patience.

We are also now having a pensioners day on Wednesdays, where all dinners are £4.00, including apple pie and custard, and tea or coffee...

...aswell as fish and chip special on a Friday - small £3.50, large £4.50, including apple pie and custard, with tea or coffee.

Hi Michelle

Thank you very much for your comments - and well done for getting a 4 in the hygiene rating.

You've had lots of lovely comments about your cafe, on this website, and it certainly seems to be well-loved and popular!

Those sound excellent special deals - very good value!

I hope your cafe, and business, goes from strength to strength and you have a busy and successful Summer!

Best wishes

Charlotte :o)

A Hearty Breakfast and welcome at the Crossroads Cafe.

by Mike
(Leeds)

On a recent visit to Withernsea, we went for a meal in a cafe next to Remars public house by the traffic lights.

Known at the moment as Mike and Caths cafe but I understand that it is now under new ownership and will be refurbished shortly and also have a name change.

It will be known as the Crossroads Cafe. I could not fault my supa dupa all day breakfast and my partner had a wonderful roast dinner.

The new owner and her staff were very welcoming and couldn`t do enough for us.

I look forward to revisiting in the spring to see the new look refurbished cafe.

Our conclusion : A very nice substantial meal at a reasonable price in friendly surroundings.

We shall return.

My favorite cafe in Withernsea - 'Crossroads Cafe'

My favorite cafe in Withernsea is a cafe that has just been taken over by a new owner - it was called 'Mike and Caths' but it now called 'Crossroads Cafe' - and its next door to 'Remars'.

I found it to be very friendly and welcoming with a good range of food from breakfast to Sunday lunches.

They even allow dogs inside.

Comment by Charlotte:

Thanks for the suggestion - sounds great - always good to know of places that allow dogs, too!

I've added it to my Dogs Allowed page, here...

Thanks for sharing!

Comment by Mike:

I recently visited Withernsea and had the pleasure of a hearty supa dupa breakfast at a reasonable price.

The owner and staff were most welcoming and nothing was to much trouble for them.

I was informed that the cafe was taken over by a new owner recently.

A full scheme of refurbishment is planned over the winter months, not least a change of name.

It is now known as Mike and Caths cafe but will soon be transformed into The Cross Roads cafe.

I will certainly make this my first port of call every time I return to Withernsea.

I have rated this cafe 3 star at the moment but when the refurbishment is carried out I am sure this will be a 5 star establishment.

Disappointed!

I've noticed Crossroads Cafe has changed hands and is now just a sandwich shop, but the new owner has kept the same name outside.

In my eyes it isn't a cafe no longer with the friendly staff, the good food, it is just a sandwich shop.

I am so disappointed by this!

In response to a comment posted on 4th September by anon. Crossroads is a fully functioning cafe with a wide menu to choose from including homemade lasagne - chicken curry, roast dinners served with homemade Yorkshire puddings and mash potatoes, also full English breakfasts.

Obviously the person concerned has not actually been in the cafe, as the staff are very polite and helpful and the food and surroundings have received lots of positive comments from customers old and new !

Thank you very much for your comments and feedback, Glynis, and for setting the record straight.

Wishing you much success with your takeover of the Crossroads Cafe, and hope the positive feedback from customers continues.
