What's On Yorkshire Coast

Days out UK and the Yorkshire Coast...

What's On Guide - Yorkshire Coast. Details of upcoming events and ideas for fun family days out in Yorkshire...

Here's the best place for you to plan all your fun family days out UK...

Yorkshire Coast - What's On Guide

Please take a browse through these upcoming events and ideas for days out along the Yorkshire coast...

There's all sorts here, from art gallery tours and events, historical re-enactments, countryside events and fun (and educational... sshhh!!) events for kids...

days out UK - whats on at the Yorkshire coast

So, whether you want a special, fun day out, or are looking to entertain the family on a rainy day, I'm sure you will find something that suits the bill...

Go straight to find What's On

You can also look at these fun things to do...

Do you have an event you would like to be included here..? Tell us about it here...

Organised Events

There are always plenty of organised events to entertain you, down at the Yorkshire Coast, day or night, Summer or Winter, rain or shine...

Evening Things to do in Scarborough

Scarborough is a real theatre town, with a fine and long-standing theatre tradition. You get some really big names headlining in Scarborough - and, indeed, all around the coast - it's a popular spot!

The Scarborough Spa is a fine venue, on the seafront, with it's nostalgically beautiful suncourt. Visit for it's famous orchestral music performances.

There are also dance performances, musical shows, plays, comedies and more, and there is always a special Summer Show put on, throughout the Summer, to entertain Summer tourists.

Also along Scarborough seafront is the famous Futurist Theatre - a veritable Scarborough institution - it's long been a destination for big name musical, comedy and entertainment acts - and in 2010 narrowly escaped being closed down - it would have been a real shame to lose it!

In the centre of the town is the Stephen Joseph Theatre - this has connections with famous playwright Alan Ayckbourn - and many Alan Ayckbourn plays show here before anywhere else in the country! A fine theatrical tradition!

In 2010 a new theatre opened in Scarborough - The Scarborough Open Air Theatre - on the North Bay, great for Summer time performances in the open air - across a lake! - spectacular! And well worth a visit!

Evening Things to do in Bridlington

Bridlington, too, has its own Spa - recently re-vamped, and destination for big-name performances - rock group Oasis actually played their penultimate gig here in 2009!

Whitby and Filey Evening Events

Filey and Whitby, too, have their own venues. The Whitby Pavilion Centre is often host to many musical and entertainment events, and special festival weekends - a twice yearly Goth Weekend, and a Sixties weekend...

Filey has the popular Evron Centre

Festivals at the Coast

In fact, Whitby, Scarborough and Bridlington all have their fair share of specialist music weekends and festivals right through the year.

Small Independent Venues

There are also plenty of smaller venues all along the coast, including a well repected Comedy Club at the Royal Hotel in Scarborough (The Other Side Comedy Club), and the intimate and unusual Swell in Robin Hoods Bay for music and arts events, to mention just 2.

So, your evenings out are well catered for - so, what about the days...?

Daytime Events at the Coast

There are lots of daytime organised events, too, for enjoyable days out in the UK - whatever your interests and tastes...

There are literary festivals, celebrations of the coast, art exhibitions, workshops, historical and museum events, special days out at special locations, including dramatic Whitby Abbey and windswept Scarborough Castle.

Ideas for Kids

There is always plenty laid on for kids, too - particularly during School holiday periods.

There are specialist and kids workshops at the Scarborough Museums and Art Gallery, and also include excursions to explore the Dinosaur Coast!

The Great Outdoors

If you like to get out and about, and enjoy the fresh air of the great outdoors, then this is the perfect area!

As well as being able to discover its beautiful beaches and glorious countryside and moorland scenery, at your own pace and to your own schedule, you can also enjoy many organised countryside and coastal events...

The Danby Moors Centre is a good place to start for countryside events, and days out in the UK countryside, there are also bird-watching events, fossil hunting, and a good selection of countryside skills and nature events at the nearby wild and wonderful Dalby Forest.

So, there's definitely lots to keep you entertained for your yorkshire coast holidays, short breaks and days out in the UK - whether rain or shine!
