The Crown Inn at Hutton Le Hole

by Matt Bearman
(Eye, Suffolk)

It's great to find a completely dog friendly pub, and it's amazing to find a dog friendly pub that has great value food, with super sized portions!

Highly recommend The Crown at Hutton Le-Hole.
Plenty of parking in this picturesque village.

They also allow children in too, so the whole family can eat together.

Children's menu from £3.95, adults start about £8. Steak and chips is £11, Gammon & Chips £10, plenty of traditional choice.

Service is speedy and polite, plenty of real ale beers.... what more do you need?

Hi Matt

Thanks for your review - we ate here too, and really enjoyed it - I agree, it's a great pub - I didn't realise it was dog friendly too, though - another bonus point in its favour!

You can read our review, too, here...

I'll add it to our list of dog-friendly places, too.

Thanks very much for sharing your experiences.

I hope you had a great trip to Yorkshire!

Charlotte :)

Dog friendly places we ate out at...

by David Brown

Hi,

We have just come back from the coast and I would recommend two places were we went and took out dogs.

First The Viking on the road down to Flamborough North Landing. The pub didn't look much when we went past it but when we went back the food was great.

I had the Viking Burger which was freshly made and not a plastic patty and the chips hand cut.

My wife had the small roast dinner and by the size of it she was glad she did not have the large one.

In all we ate for £25 for a family of four with drinks and puds.

The second place was the Haven Arms in Hedon. We were made to feel welcome as soon as we walked in and the dogs were also made to feel welcome with treats and water.

It was a bit more expensive but the food was an absolute treat.

It was one of the best beef wellington's I have ever had and I am sure my wife had whale and chips.

As far as the children were concerned I have two very picky daughters but nothing was left from their spag bol and cheese and tomato pizza.

A great meal and a lovely way to finish off our short break

Thanks

David

Thank you David - what great recommendations - they both sound well worth a visit!

And it's so good that they both allow dogs too, it can be such a worry trying to find somewhere decent to eat with a hound in tow.

I think my Dad has actually also recommended the Viking Hotel to me too.

Best wishes

Dog Friendly Eating Out in Whitby (and for humans!)

by Paul
(West Yorkshire)

We love the Seamans Mission in Whitby a place where you can take the dogs inside, unfortunately with Molly not fitting under tables we have not been for a few years but the puddings were fabulous.

Whitby, Benson's edit: Paul means 'Beckett's' cafe on the new side of Whitby near Elizabeth Bothams also accepts dogs and does delicious home made cakes, and a good cup of coffee.

The Moorings Fish and Chips on the old side does really good fish and chips.

For a taste of the Orient the Passage to India and the Whitby Tandoori both do really good curries, the Passage has recently been done out, food was top notch although a bit more expensive than West Yorkshire prices.

Comment by Charlotte:

Thank you Paul
That looks very useful information. We haven't taken Ginger our dog to eat-in in Whitby yet - but are planning on doing so soon.

It seems like we have an excellent choice - both for doggies and for humans...

...my tummy's rumbling already! lol :o)

Hi Paul.

The coffee shop in Skinner Street is called Beckett's, not Benson's. Well worth a visit, with or without a dog!

Hi Buddy's Mum

I believe that the Bay Hotel allow dogs, but please check before you set out. The phone number is: 01947 880278.

The Bay Hotel is the one right at the bottom, practically in the sea!

Hope that helps - and I hope you enjoy your trip, do come back and tell us how you got on.

Don't miss this gem
by: Anonymous

Last time we went to Beckett's, which is well worth seeking out, there were four other dogs in, but not a minute's trouble. We started going in because they were dog friendly, but now go for the food. The home made cakes are out of this world and it is so friendly, warm and cosy.

Humble Pie and Mash Cafe
by: Paul, Marjorie and Flynn

Superb pie and mash - steak and ale pie to die for! Paul, myself and my gorgeous boxer dog Flynn were made very welcome indeed. We were very impressed with the good, hearty food.

Beckett's in Whitby

by Eleanor Digby
(Lincs)

Like one of your reviewers above, we first went in because of the dog, but kept going back for the fantastic food, coffee (fair trade) and friendliness.

The cakes are home made and just out of this world. I don't know where to start on the flavours, but the dark chocolate lime is my favourite while t'other half can't resist the blueberry and vanilla, but there are lots we haven't tried yet.

Our dog always gets water and a treat, no matter how busy they are... and that is the down side, as too many people have discovered it and we can't always get in!

Comments:

Ooh thanks Eleanor - sounds yummy - such imaginative flavours for cakes!

Looking forward to trying this one.... dog or no dog!

That's always the problem with the popular places isn't it...lol... they fill up quick - but such a fantastic vote of confidence!

Thanks for sharing :o)

Dogs Welcome in Filey and Hornsea

by lizzie
(East Riding)

Filey or Hornsea for a day out in East Yorkshire?

Well, we all love Hornsea - the little beach shelter cafe where the owner comes out and greets dogs, often with a treat(loos behind, tap for refreshing doggie water bottle, great fish and chippie opposite, free parking in nearby streets) and many shops put out bowls of water for dogs.

The pet shop by the Co-op welcomes dogs to go in and choose their treats - very civilised!

But Filey is great for dogs. Many shops also put out water, and one of the shops has a resident border collie who loves to sun his tummy outside in the main shopping street; very relaxed!

Dixon's Department store positively welcomes shoppers to bring in their dogs and browse - there is a sign on the door to this effect, and at other shops owned by the remarkable and unique Mr Dixon - his beach shop, the pound shop etc - dogs are also meeted and greeted. So refreshing an attitude!

And, of course, the dogs are always on their best behaviour when in there.

Both Hornsea and Filey attract some lovely dogs and their owners. We always find everyone very happy and relaxed about dogs....and everyone seems to poop scoop happily.

So we recommend both!

..............

Comment by Charlotte:

Thanks for sharing your experiences Lizzie!

That's really good to know about Mr Dixon's shops in Filey - Ginger (our greyhound) will be pleased to know that too!

I'll add the information to my Yorkshire Coast Dogs Allowed page that has lots more places where dogs are welcomed.

Thanks very much for sharing!

Hope you have many more dog friendly visits to both Hornsea and Filey!

Charlotte :o) (and Ginger) x

Comment by Liz:
