Looking for somewhere to eat in Whitby? We try Samuel's Cafe. Read our review here... We visited Whitby on a grey Monday in July, right at the beginning of the school holidays... The town was heaving, and lots of cafes and restaurants in Whitby were full, with queues outside... We lucked-out with Samuel's - a charming little cafe on the east side of Whitby, very close to the Swing Bridge.
It was a nice, quiet little cafe - not busy at all - I don't know why, as it was lovely! Samuel's is simply, but smartly, decorated, in soft creams, coffees and beiges, and with some inspiring local photos. We took a seat by the window - great for people watching - and had a look at the menu....
Menu Includes
Ian had a Fish and Chip Special - haddock and chips, bread and butter, and a cup of tea.
I had Fishcake, Chips and garden peas (mushy peas were also an option)
Both meals came quickly, and tasted good, hot and were nice and filling - both with a fresh, light and mild feel. The service here was excellent, the staff were very helpful, friendly, and kept checking everything was OK, and that we had everything that we needed. Gentle jazz music was playing softly in the background, which, I think, really helped with creating the gentle and relaxing dining experience in this lovely little cafe.
It was a lovely clean little cafe, too - the hygiene scores were displayed on the door - 5 (the best!) - impressive!
