Find out more about Filey seafront. Why we like it... and what there is to see. Filey tourist information from the Unofficial Guide...
The seafront at Filey is really nice - it's one of the main attractions to this old-fashioned little seaside town...
While the beach at Filey is truly fantastic, this is also a very relaxing way to promenade along the lovely seafront.
The seafront stretches the whole length of the town, right from the entrance to the Filey golf Club (to the south of the town) up to the Coble Landing in the north of the town...
The seafront promenade isn't just a walk beside the seaside - although that is, in fact, very pleasant to do...
There's lots to do along the seafront:
Practicalities, such as:
Refreshments - Find these at the north and south ends of the Promenade
Toilets
Car parking - we usually park at the south side near to the entrance to the Golf Club, in a very large car park
At the south end of the seafront is a great park, ideal for kids. There's:
refreshments
mini-golf
mini go-karts
mini boating lake
These are only open during the summer months
Along the promenade itself, find a really fun mini-golf. Kids love it, and we were very impressed with the artistic and fun holes to play through. I particularly liked this giant lobster - fantastic!
There are also very attractive seafront gardens along the promenade. These are always carefully tended, and nearly always have something in flower, even in winter.
The gardens are a very pleasant place to walk through, or even to stop a while, relax and take in the scenery - there are plenty of comfortable-looking benches scattered around.
To the southern end of Filey seafront is a lovely paddling pool - this is open for children to enjoy during the summer months - and certainly seems very popular!
As well as being able to enjoy the walk, I like the great views of the vast beaches from above:
It's interesting in the summer to watch families having fun on the sands
In winter the seascapes are more dramatic and you can admire the massive stretches of sand, or watch the waves crashing against the sea wall below
You can also enjoy the elegant architecture along the seafront
I do really enjoy just the joy of walking along the seafront - that traditional 'promenade' - just 'people-watching' amongst all the other promenaders...
If you go to Filey, I'm sure you can't help but enjoy a walk along the seafront. I hope you get as much pleasure from it as we do when we visit...
