Find out more about Filey town. What you can buy, where you can eat. Why we like the town centre in Filey... Get the lowdown from the 'Unofficial Guide'....
The town centre in Filey is only quite little. We visit for the lovely beach and the seafront usually - and not the shopping!
Having said that, Filey is a nice, interesting little centre - usually pleasantly bustling, even in Winter!
There's not much in the way of large, high street shops and chain stores - but I think that is all to the good!
Instead, the shops are independent and interesting little shops. Lots of:
gift shops
arts and crafts shops
jewellery
plenty of ideal shops for browsing for that perfect holiday souvenir
Don't miss Sterchi's Chocolate Shop - a gorgeous, old-fashioned style chocolate shop - very delicious, we couldn't help but go in and treat ourselves - our chocolates came in posh little bags - which did, of course, make them taste even better!
There are plenty of places to stop and eat in Filey:
little cafes and tea shops, ideal for an afternoon tea, after a day at the beach
pubs
restaurants
snacks
fine-dining
We particularly like Inghams fish and chip shop, for eating-in or take-away.
I love the distinctive Filey fisherman outside... but Ginger did seem somewhat perturbed by the giant fish!
I hope you enjoy your look round the friendly little town of Filey...
