The North Star Hotel
Flamborough North Landing

North Star Hotel - Flamborough North Landing - me

Flamborough North Landing - The North Star Hotel

Great food and a fantastic location at The North Star Hotel at the North Landing, Flamborough.

We review our meal here and tell you all about our experience...

We were looking for a quick bite to eat when we ended up at the picturesque bay at Flamborough North Landing.

The North Star Hotel really took our fancy as we passed, and after a quick explore of the very pretty little beach, we walked the few yards back to the North Star Hotel.

Our first impressions were very good, as we were warmly greeted, and shown to our table.

The bar and restaurant were clean, welcoming and smart, with plenty of room for diners.

The decor was quite traditional, but very warm and welcoming, with some interesting photos of local scenes.

When we got there (about 12.30, lunchtime, on an August Bank holiday Saturday) the bar and restaurant were quite quiet - but they very quickly filled up.

Many of the diners were clearly regulars (always a good sign) and most had reserved their tables.

Sweet trolley at the North Star Hotel, Flamborough North Landing, Yorkshire

I had Tuna Steak with Orange Sauce, and Ian had Steak Pie.

My tuna meal - North Star Hotel, Flamborough North Landing, Yorkshire

My tuna steak was delicious - lightly cooked with a tasty sauce, and served with a mystery accompaniment....

On enquiry, this turned out to be a herb/seaweed called 'samphire' - like mini asparagus - really tasty, soft and crunchy - really nice!

Ian's steak pie - North Star Hotel, Flamborough North Landing

Ian said his steak pie was really great - with a lovely, soft, buttery pastry.

Our meals were served with trays of vegetables:

  • boiled potatoes
  • some lovely, really tasty, home-made chips
  • carrots
  • green beans
  • courgette/ratatouille
  • jug of gravy

Our meals - North Star Hotel, Flamborough North Landing

Both meals and the vegetables were really nicely cooked and very tasty - there was a nice amount too...

Sadly, inspite of sitting looking at the dessert trolly throughout the meal, we were too full for a sweet - but certainly not uncomfortably full.

Looking at the sweet trolly - very tempting! North Star Hotel, Flamborough North Landing

The ladies that served us were very smart, professional, welcoming and friendly - and nicely helpful and forthcoming when I enquired about the mystery samphire on my plate.

When we paid our bill at the bar (the meal came to a very reasonable £20 including drinks) we enquired of the owner/manager about a leaflet for the hotel...

He was very friendly and helpful and offered to show us the rooms.

We looked into a twin room and a double room - both were very clean and comfortable-looking, and both had a clean-looking ensuite bathroom.

One had a lovely view across open fields towards the sea, and the other looked out towards Flamborough Head, with views of both lighthouses.

We were quite impressed and taken with it - and do intend to stay here for a night or two sometime - I think it would be great to get up and be so close to the sea in the early morning, before anyone else is around!

We thought this was a great, friendly and very welcoming hotel, with excellent service - we enjoyed a very tasty meal and what we saw of the rooms definitely made us want to return for a longer stay.

The hotel has it's own car park - or the Flamborough North Landing Pay and Display car park is just opposite (almost).
