Holiday Cottages in England - Review of Caulklands Cottage, Thornton le Dale, Yorkshire
Ian's sister owns this beautiful holiday cottage in Yorkshire, where she used to live. We love this cottage, and always thought it would be a fantastic place to live when we visited, so think it's a really lovely place to have a holiday.
The cottage is on the main street in the pretty little village of Thornton-le-Dale, between Scarborough and Pickering, near to Dalby forest and the North York Moors National Park.
Although it is only a short walk to the village centre and shops, the cottage location itself is peaceful and tranquil with a beautiful back garden to make the most of the evening sunshine.
Caulklands Cottage is a beautiful 17th Century stone built cottage, so has that beautiful, historical feel and really solid build - very cosy in the winter-time!
It does have all the modern comforts of home, though, so you will certainly be comfortable and well equipped for your holiday stay.
Settle down for an evening by the fire in the comfortable and spacious lounge with an unusual stone chimney-place and fire.
The kitchen is large and fully equipped, while you can take your meals in comfort in the conservatory dining area, where you can admire the garden as you enjoy a leisurely meal.
Upstairs the cottage has 2 roomy double bedrooms, and a smaller single room. The cottage sleeps 5 (plus a cot). All linen is provided.
You can also bring your pet to Caulklands Cottage to enjoy the break with you too.
This holiday cottage in Yorkshire is a cosy, comfortable base for touring the area, within easy reach of the Yorkshire Coast, the North York Moors Railway, The North York Moors National Park and beautiful Dalby Forest. (They even include a free visitor's pass to the forest in the price of your stay!)
Thornton-le-Dale itself is a very picturesque little village, full of beautiful cottages, and boutique shops and restaurants - perfect for an easy stroll from the cottage.
