Typical Menu IncludesMenus at The Marine Hotel in Whitby change daily, and aim to use locally sourced food where possible. On the date of our visit, July 2011, the menu included:
I had salmon and asparagus with a side salad (ordered and served separately). Ian had lobster linguine - pasta and sauce with a lobster claw, and lots of big bits of lobster in the pasta, too. I had my meal with a white wine spritzer with elderflower cordial - which I can heartily recommend - it was delicious! Everything about the meal was gorgeous - such delicious, well-cooked food - sublime!
My salmon was gorgeous - tender, flavourful meat inside, with a gently crisped crust. The asparagus was soft, tender and delicious too.
Ian loved his lobster linguine - he said it was definitely nicer than the one he'd eaten when we went to Venice, even - praise indeed! We could hardly refuse dessert after such a wonderful main course...
I had an Autumn Fruit Meringue, with vanilla ice cream - it looked like a huge, snowy meringue mountain, erupting with warm autumn fruits - very sweet - but totally delicious!
Ian had a gorgeous Bailey's chocolate pot with almond biscuits, and a strawberry to flourish - rich, decadent and delectable!
And yes, I did beg a mouthful! Although the restaurant was busy, the service was always very good, and the bar staff and waiting staff were extremely helpful, efficient and courteous. Our food also came very quickly. The lovely, relaxed but trendy-sophisticated ambience, stylish decor, great service, and truly delicious food all combined to make this a wonderful and special dining experience. Rooms at The Marine Hotel in WhitbyWe haven't stayed here, but the rooms at The Marine Hotel look some of the smartest and most elegant of the hotels in Whitby - very luxurious - although a little pricy! ...but they do look gorgeous, and all have a stunning sea-view! There are 4 rooms, plus a room available at the Marine's sister business on the same street The Moon and Sixpence. I'm putting these on my wish-list! Hotels in Whitby - The Marine on the Map
