Keldy Forest Cabins

by Eve Lomax
(Hull)

It's the little things in the cabins that makes the difference

We have stayed at Keldy Forest twice now and would highly recommend it to anyone (and often do!)
The road into the forest should have a sign at the top of it saying 'leave your stress here' as when you enter the forest track you leave the world behind!!

The staff at the forest retreat are happy and helpful and check you into your cabin quickly. The shop is well stocked with home cooked meals and local ales (my husband would highly recommend trying the Cropton ales made by the local Cropton brewery)

The first time we stayed there I don't think we took anything the man said to us in, after we entered the cabin, as we were so blown away by how luxurious is was, the pictures on the website may be impressive but its nothing compared to standing there and soaking it all in!

The cupboards had all the utensils you could possibly need which was a refreshing change for self catering accommodation. The cabins are immaculate and clearly well maintained.

The hot tub was fabulous and there is nothing like sitting in it, in the peace and tranquillity of the forest, looking up at the trees and nature in all her glory (even in the rain!)

The view from inside the hot tub

The children loved the hot tub and spent every evening happily splashing around and enjoying turning the jets up and down. Once they were sleeping soundly in their cosy bedroom it was mummy's turn to relax in it!

The forest itself is glorious, the first morning we woke up and opened the curtains to see a young deer walking by. We spotted bats at dusk every evening, cheeky squirrels hopping along the balcony, pheasants hoping for left overs and frogs in the long grass.

The cabin has a guide to the walks around the forest in the welcome pack and we picked the most kid friendly ones to explore during the daytime.

On an evening, while Grandma put her feet up, we went exploring further a field. The views were spectacular and my hubby wanted to take pictures of almost everything he saw!

The surrounding area is stunning and we were never short of things to do. The lack of phone signal in the forest makes for a total escape from the world and gives you a chance to totally unwind and relax.

The day we left my little girl, who was 5yrs old at the time, asked when we could come back again! We booked our holiday for the next year a month later! Grandma insisted we stayed in the treehouse then and it blew away all expectations!

I wont give away any secrets as it does have to be seen to be believed.

If it's an escape from the world, a romantic weekend away, a family holiday or just something a little different, Keldy is perfect for all.

I can't wait to go back!

Green with envy in the forest....!
by: Charlotte

Thank you very much for sharing your review, Eve - I think you've left that as a bit of a 'tease' lol - it does sound absolutely wonderful, and if I fancied going there before (I've spent a lot of time looking at these in the brochures) I think I need to go now!!

Love the idea of being in a hot tub, looking out at all the trees, and watching all the nature...

Bet there are so many things to take photos of there!

Being able 'switch off' from the 'real world' does sound ideal - sounds like the perfect holiday to just relax and unwind, with a cosy lodge, good food (and drink) and a scenic view!

Perfect!

I must just ask - what is the first photo? Is it a leaf wall-lamp?

If you like the sound of Eve's holiday...

Keldy Forest Cabins are near Pickering, within the actual forest, and within the North York Moors National Park - would just be quite a short drive to get to the coast - Scarborough and Whitby, in particular are within easy reach.

If you like the sound of this, too, you can book through Forest Holidays or Hoseasons

More about Keldy Forest Cabins here...

Also nearby (about 3 miles away) are the lovely Cropton Forest Cabins, within the setting of Cropton Forest (North York Moors National Park)...

You can find out more about Cropton Forest Lodges here...

Thank you very much for sharing your lovely holiday experiences and memories with us, Eve. I'm sure you'll experience many more lovely holidays in the forest...

...at the moment I'm 'green' with envy lol!

Thanks for sharing :)

Charlotte x
