La Rosa, Whitby

Stayed in LA ROSA in Whitby last year after seeing it advertised in Coast magazine. It looked totally quirky and different.

We were not disappointed, from arriving we were greeted with a cup of tea in a wacky sitting room and then shown our room.

All rooms are themed, my partner managed to book the one advertised in Coast. It overlooked the Abbey.

It had a huge poster bed probably the most comfortable bed I have slept in, lovely linen and throws!

We also had a huge bathroom with a lovely old bath, no showers here!

Breakfast was deliverd in a picnic hamper to your door, it consisted of fresh orange, fruit cake and hard boiled eggs, and some cheese!

That was probably the only reason we wouldnt go back again, I like sitting at a table for breakfast and a cooked breakfast is nice when on a weekend away.

It is nice for a special occasion and I would recommend it.

Kitsch and gorgeous!
by: Charlotte

Hi

Thank you very much for your review - we, too, read the review in Coast magazine, and I'm pleased to hear that it was as good in reality as it looked in the review!

A lovely and quirky hotel - we peeped into the windows of the hotel as we were passing last time - it does look very tempting, and we would love to stay sometime, for a special occasion.

The rooms look stunning - real works of art, with an individual vintage, gypsy, boudoir feel - gorgeous!

La Rosa also do a suitably quirky campsite too, situated a few miles outside of Whitby, in the North York Moors National Park, between the lovely villages of Egton and Goathland.

Stay in nostalgic caravans, and enjoy the kitsch collections and vintage paraphernalia, as well as a true 'green' feel (no noisy generators and compost toilets!).

This is a cross between glamping and wild camping - a wonderful and unique experience, I'm sure - and I'd definitely like to try it (no dogs though!)
