Lovely Winter Weekend Break

by Annifred
(Lancashire)

We have just had a lovely short break, staying in The Smithy Cottage, Grindale, a very pretty hamlet just outside Bridlington.

We enjoyed doggie walks on the beach at Fraisthorpe with our 'rescues' Ben and Rex.

We also walked on the north side of Filey beach enjoying a lovely hot chocolate with trimmings at one of the beach cafes - still open in November!

The weather was not great, but we were well wrapped up in waterproofs. At night we returned to the cottage, lit the woodburner and enjoyed a mulled wine! Pure luxury!!

Also couldn't believe the prices at Reighton Nurseries (much cheaper than back home).

We absolutely adore this coastline and the villages are beautiful.

It is stunning whatever the weather and sorry about the cliche, but "we'll be back!"

What a Wonderful Winter Break!
by: Charlotte

Hi Annifred

Thanks for sharing your holiday experience - we've just got back from a long weekend away at the coast too - in Filey!

We escaped the snow (just!) but it was cold and wet! Typical November weather! We were on the north side of Filey beach too - with our rescue greyhound Ginger!

I had a lovely hot chocolate, too, at a beach-side cafe - after watching the waves breaking on Filey sea front! :o) What a co-incidence!

Oh Fraisthorpe is a fantastic place to go - and great for dogs to run free on the beach! Glad you enjoyed it!

And oh I do like Reighton nurseries too - yes you can really get a great bargain there! I was wanting to go there last weekend too, when we visited Filey, but the car was too full up of cases, food and dog to fit in any plants unfortuately - luckily we're not too far away so we can go another day!

I've been browsing Smithy cottage on the website - looks lovely - so cosy - and very reasonably priced too! Love the wood burning stove! A great place to stay!!

So glad you enjoyed your trip to the Yorkshire coast - and do hope you'll be back again soon!

Best wishes

Charlotte
