Danes Dyke, Nr Flamborough
by Kathryn
(South Yorkshire)
I have 2 Springer Spaniels, and we love going here. Danes Dyke is the perfect day out for us. There is a car park surrounded by woods, a small picnic area, a cabin to get drinks and decentish toilet facilities.
The walk down to the beach is steep, and there are paths through the woods where your dog can rummage around to his heart's content.
The beach is small, but open to dogs all year round.
Nearby Flamborough has a wonderful Fish and Chip shop for lunch, and if you want to stay over, there are several accommodation places close by.
We used to go to Scarborough a lot, but because the best part of the beach is closed to my little ones, we looked for somewhere else, and this is now our favourite place.

Thanks very much for your review of Danes Dyke, Kathryn - we have been before but didn't get the chance to stop very long - it does look the sort of place you could spend hours exploring and enjoying.
Great that it's such a good place for dogs, too!
There's more info about Danes Dyke on the official website, here...
Glad you have a special place on the Yorkshire Coast for you and your dogs, Kathryn, and thank you so much for sharing it with us!

Cafe South Landing
by Nigel Grizzard
(Leeds)
Went to Flamborough South Landing and had a great walk, saw the cafe had been burnt down. When I returned home, I read the fire had happened nearly two years ago.
Obviously some heads need knocking together, two years is far too long to leave a site in this derelict and dangerous condition.
Come on East Riding Council, get the site cleared and bring in a portakabin to provide refreshments in the short term, rather than have grandiose future plans but no action.

Thanks very much for your comments Nigel - I think you make a fair point!
Anyone else got any thoughts about this? It does seem a shame there aren't these facilities here any more...

I agree with Nigel about the little cafe at South Landing - its such a shame that it was burned down, we used to love going there and sitting out on the balcony for a coffee, and had our lunch there many times.
We would also take friends or family there when we were out walking, it's about time something was done!
East Riding I believe are supposed to be building something on the site - the sooner the better, we really miss this as a tea spot, and it was nearly always busy, so someone is missing out here!

Notarianni Ice Cream, Bridlington
by Charlotte and Ian
(E Yorks)
We stopped off for an ice-cream at Notarianni's in Bridlington.
We just called in and got an ice cream in a cone at the kiosk, but they also serve ice creams, hot drinks and snacks inside the coffee shop itself, which looked smart and welcoming.
I had a mint choc chip, and Ian had a 'Blue Moon' I think it was - the colours were incredible - very bright - the photos don't do it justice!
They were great! Very sweet and tasty! And a very convenient location, just by the seafront! Loved it! Would call again! Contact: Notarianni 15 Prince Street Bridlington YO15 2NW Tel: 01262 674321 More eating out in BridlingtonMore places to eatMore about Bridlington

Cafe South Beach - Bridlington
I`ve being trying to find a contact for the cafe near the toilets on the new car park south beach.
Just wanting to say a big thank-you to the cafe owner who was so kind to my dad when he had a fall in his cafe.
Mum and Dad arrived home today after taking our 11yr old son to Brid for two weeks. Dad had a bit of a fall and he mentioned to me today that he would have liked to go back and thank the cafe owner but ran out of time.
I hope someone will read this and pass this message on.
Thanks
Fiona (daughter)
