We had lunch, on a very icy December Saturday, at the Sandown Restaurant in Bridlington.
The Sandown Restaurant is a small to medium-sized restaurant, close to the seafront and town centre, in Bridlington.
We found a welcoming and friendly atmopshere, and it seemed very clean and modern, with quite smart, contemporary decor in a fresh, lime and coffee color scheme.
We had a warm welcome from the owner/manageress - service was very attentive throughout our meal, from both the owner/manageress herself, and the waitresses.
The manageress even offered to take a photo of both of us, when she saw me taking photos...
See, we do sometimes appear both in the same photo!
The menu was quite extensive - with many special offers (to entice winter trade, I think!)
Menu includes:
Roast Dinners
Burgers and Grills
A selection of Pies
Fish and Chips, Scampi and Chips, etc.
Tempting Desserts
Ian had a hearty-looking steak pie, with chips and peas - potatoes and veg were an alternative option.
I had turkey and stuffing with potatoes and veg.
The fare was quite standard and simple - nowt fancy! But it was very good food - it was hot, very tasty - good portions - it tasted wholesome, and nicely filling.
Ian says this was "one of the nicest steak pies I've had in a long time!"
My turkey was well-cooked - lovely, moist and tender, with very nice, tasty stuffing and gravy, too.
The meals were nicely presented, too - the whole meal, food, presentation and service were all done with care!
The restaurant was quite quiet this December Saturday lunchtime - but I've got a feeling it gets pretty busy in Summer!
The manageress knew and chatted to a lot of the customers - so it's clearly a popular restaurant in Bridlington with the locals - which is always a good sign!
The meals were a good price, too...
The main meals were just £4.95 each (correct at the date of our visit - December 2010) - these were reduced prices/special offers for winter, but, to be honest, they weren't that much more expensive at full price anyway!
Good value at any time of the year!
The total bill came to less than £14 - that's for:
2 main meals
mineral water
coca-cola
pot of tea
This restaurant in Bridlington is fully licensed - and has a wine-list and well-stocked bar.

We did enjoy our meals here - good, hearty and warming food - and a welcoming, clean, well-cared for and very friendly restaurant.
