Restaurants in Bridlington Reviewed - Audrey's Fish and Chips We review Bridlington restaurants and cafes. We visit Audrey's Fish and Chip Cafe for a touch of nostalgia - find out what we thought..... We had a fish and chip lunch on a cold and rainy October Saturday in Bridlington, at Audrey's Fish and Chip Cafe. This is one of a few fish and chip restaurants in Bridlington - nicely central, with a homely feel. There is a fish and chip takeaway downstairs, and there is seating for up to 50 upstairs in the cafe-restaurant area. Enter the cafe seating area through the takeaway shop, and up the stairs at the back. The stairs are quite steep, and narrow, so may not be suitable for the infirm. The fish and chip cafe area consists of 2 small rooms with quite old-fahioned, retro, formica-type tables and chairs. The cafe is very 'no frills', but is very clean, quite comfortable, and with a retro 'nostalgic' feel and a friendly, homely air.
We were lucky enough to get a table by the window, and wiped the fog from the steamed-up pane, to look down into the rainy street below - a peek of a great view across into the harbour too. MenuThe menu is quite simple, and, of course, fish and chip orientated. At the date of our visit (October 2010) the choice included:
The average price for an adult main meal is £4 to £5 - so it's really good value! The waitresses and staff were very friendly and the food came quite quickly. After ordering, we were brought cutlery (including a proper fish knife) and cold drinks, and were asked to pay, at this point. Hot drinks were brought with our meal. The food was hot and tasty. We both had fish and chips, and I had mushy peas as well.
The fish was nice and moist, and with lovely, light, crispy batter. We enjoyed our meal.
Ask the waitresses if you'd like to use the toilet - it isn't signed/labelled - presumably to stop people wandering in off the street to use it. We thought this was a great, no frills, quick stop - a homely feel, friendly service, and lovely, crispy batter. Restaurants in Bridlington - Audrey's Fish and Chips on the Map
