Restaurants in Bridlington Reviewed - The Ferns Farm Hotel, Carnaby
Looking for somewhere to eat? Restaurants in Bridlington reviewed - find out what we thought of The Ferns Farm Hotel in Carnaby...
We spent a November lunchtime at the Ferns Farm Hotel, Carnaby, near Bridlington.
We have been here before, only once, many years ago, when Ian's Dad first moved to Bridlington - we much enjoyed our meal at the time - a very busy Sunday lunch - and found our recent Saturday lunch to be equally good value.
The Ferns Farm Hotel currently has a big sign outside, advertising meals at only £3.99 - served Mon-Sat from 12-7pm.
Hungry, and at nearly 2 o'clock, looking for restaurants in Bridlington, we thought it looked an ideal spot to stop and eat...
The Ferns Farm Hotel is a medium-large pub and restaurant - as well as offering overnight accommodation.
It is friendly and welcoming, with a dark, traditional bar area, with quiet alcoves, and tables and chairs arranged neatly throughout the area. You can eat your meals in here, or in the lighter and brighter conservatory area.
We chose to enjoy our meals in the sunlit conservatory area, to make the most of the scarce November sunshine. We got a window table, and enjoyed the view outside.
There is also a larger restaurant area open at busy times, such as for Sunday lunches.
Coffee and Tea are available throughout the day.
Eating
We ordered at the bar and our meals were brought quite quickly to our table. There is a very good choice of meals here. We picked from:
Fish and Chips (I had this)
Gammon
Ham Salad
Quiche
Omlette
Sausage and Mash
Pie (varies daily - Chicken and Leek - Ian had this)
As well as daily specials on the boards
Ferns Farm Hotel are currently (November 2009) running a fantastic recession beating offer - all meals at only £3.99.
Sunday Lunch is priced at a very reasonable £6.99.
We thought this was incredible value and the meals were well-cooked, filling and lovely and tasty - typical good, pub grub!
I had Haddock with Chips and Peas, and Ian had a very tasty Chicken and Leek Pie.
The staff were welcoming, friendly, and very helpful the whole time, right from taking our order. The service and standard of food was particularly impressive as that whole area of Carnaby and Bessingby had had a power cut lasting all morning.
The Ferns Farm Hotel is a very friendly and welcoming pub, serving good, honest, tasty food - all made from fresh, natural and predominantly local ingredients - above all it is excellent value!
We really enjoyed our lunch and found it a comfortable spot to rest a while, and will certainly be returning again.
