Restaurants in Bridlington Reviewed
The Friendly Forester Pub

The Friendly Forester pub - restaurants in Bridlington

Restaurants in Bridlington - The Friendly Forester Pub

We review Bridlington restaurants, pubs and eating out. Read about our visit to The Friendly Forester pub, and our meal out there. Great value for money....

We dropped in for a quick and tasty lunch, to the Friendly Forester pub in Bridlington...

This is one of the chain-pub restaurants in Bridlington, and is away from the main tourist area of the town and seafront...

It is, however, quite close to the Old Town in Bridlington, and is just off one of the main roads through Bridlington (the B1225) leading to:

  • North Beach
  • Sewerby Hall
  • Filey and Scarborough
  • Bempton

...so it's actually very convenient, if you are travelling through Bridlington, or on a day trip to one of these places.

The Friendly Forester is a pretty big pub - and seems very popular.

We visited on a Monday lunchtime, in February, and it was nicely 'humming' with customers - just enough people so that you don't feel awkward...

...but not so many that it was too noisy or uncomfortable.

The atmosphere was relaxed and friendly.

This is actually the second time we've visited The Friendly Forester - the first was at a weekend lunchtime, when it was certainly packed!

The pub is smartly decorated, in a warm, relaxed and quite comforting style - very welcoming!

Find yourself a table - plenty to choose from, as it's a big pub!

The menu is large, with a good selection, and lots of special offers - plenty of choice as one of the bigger pub restaurants in Bridlington.

At the date we visited (February 2011) there was an offer for 2 main meals for just £5 (Mon-Fri - selected meals only).

Order and pay at the bar (food and drinks) - you will then be give a number to take back to your table....

I had a sizzling chicken breast - with chips, fried onions and half a fried tomato...

Ian had an 8oz Aberdeen Angus burger, served with chips, bun and salad.

I really enjoyed my meal - it came served on a sizzling metal platter - with an authentic griddled taste - the chicken was nice and soft, with a crispy, sizzled coating...

The meal was very tasty, and a good size - I was quite full by the end!

Ian, too, said although he'd been offered to 'Double Up' at the bar, to a 16oz burger, the 8oz one was plenty big enough.

He too enjoyed his burger, and said it was 'very nice'.

Our waitress was very attentive throughout our meal - with a confident, professional and friendly attitude. Good service!

We didn't have a dessert - although they did look tempting!

Even though we didn't have the '2 main meals for £5' offer, our meals only cost just over £10 for:

  • 2 main meals
  • 2 (soft) drinks

This is one of the larger pub-chain restaurants in Bridlington - it might not be in the main tourist areas, but if you're passing and hungry, it does a good meal, for a very good price, in pleasant and comfortable surroundings...

...and who can ask for more than that!
