Restaurants in Bridlington - The Friendly Forester, Bridlington

by CL
(Bridlington, Yorkshire)

This isn't my favourite restaurant but we do go there regularly as it is convenient for ourselves and most of our family. We like to meet up here and treat ourselves to a meal out for family celebrations.

The restaurant is just your usual pub-chain type - but it is very large, not too busy (even at weekends) and they have a pretty good selection of reasonably priced food.

The food was pretty good, with nice sized portions. Everyone always seems to enjoy their food, and there is lots for the kids to choose from.

The pub/restaurant is clean, and with modern decor - there is a nice relaxed feel.

I'm sure we will go again.

Sizzling not the food
by: Anonymous

Been there many times - very hit and miss.

Very often the steak is terrible and very tough.

They ask how you would like it cooked - this never makes any difference as it comes on a platter and if it has to wait as it comes out, even a rare steak is medium to well done!

Have been in better, but also some worse
by: Ben

Three of us ate here and two had their offer curry meal. It was very colourful and that was it. Devoid of taste and heat (luke warm), I think they forgot the curry in mine.
However the third meal was a chicken dish, and it was hot and tasty, so we were told.

We have eated here for many years, the staff are always freindly, these days this is the only reason I can think of why we go there.
Probably the lure of a cheap meal is the truth.

In fairness I should add that we have had excellent meals here as well, but I can't remeber when that was.

EXCELLENT FOR HOLIDAY MAKERS
by: CJ

I stayed in Bridlington last year with my family including my Grandson aged 4.

I found that nothing was too much trouble. Service was good and staff very polite, food was of a reasonable choice as I was fed up with chips every day!!!

I would recommend this place and am looking to use it again this year.

This pub is now by far the busiest and best pub in bridlington.

Cheap drinks, nice atmosphere and great food aswell as a brilliant quiz night on a tuesday.

Would recommend to anyone visiting Bridlington

When cheap does not mean good
by: Anonymous

We used to go to the FF a few years ago. Recently we visited and waited at the bar to be served, and waited... and waited...

I had a £20 note waving in my hand and tried to attract the eye of the bar staff but with no luck. She just sauntered past me with a gormless look on her face.

Ended up turning around and going elsewhere.
I also agree with a previous comment about them having no idea how to cook a medium rare steak.

This is a perfect example of when cheap most definately does not equal good.

Even though we live a few mins walk away, we will never go there again!

Room for Improvement
by: Angie

The menu has a good selection and the prices are reasonable. The staff very polite. We ordered 2 sizzling platters. We were surprised that our food was on the table 8 mins after ordering!

The food was ok but nothing special.

My only real complaint is that even though the restaurant was only half full, all the tables, menus, etc were sticky and in need of a good clean down.

The toilets weren't much better either. Very smelly & messy.

It is a shame because with a bit of effort it could be a really nice place.
