Restaurants in Filey and Hunmanby - Review of The Railway Tavern, Hunmanby We review Hunmanby and Filey restaurants... We visit The Railway Tavern in Hunmanby village, near Filey. Read our review and see what we thought. The inn also has camping available. We enjoyed a day off work, and a Friday lunch out in Hunmanby, near Filey, while visiting the wonderful Reighton Nurseries, nearby... The Railway Tavern is just a mile or so away, in the little village of Hunmanby itself (not Hunmanby Gap), close to the town of Filey. The Railway Tavern is a smart and welcoming inn, with a large car park, and an attached camping site, ideal for quiet Filey caravan holidays...
The inside is comfortable and welcoming, with quite a country and traditional feel. There are several different rooms and areas to the inn:
The inn was quite quiet on the day we visited, which was quite strange, with it being so large, but it was a week day, out of peak season, and I feel sure it does get a lot busier! Find yourself a table, and order and pay at the bar. The welcome was warm, and the bar and restaurant area were clean, comfortable and looked well cared for. The staff were friendly, chatty and helpful - and the service was efficient and prompt.
We ate in the bistro restaurant area. The menu is surprisingly extensive and includes: Restaurants in Filey - Hunmanby - The Railway Tavern - Menu(Correct at the date of our visit: May 2011)
We both had a Carvery - as we were hungry - and it looked extremely good value, at just £4.95 each!
On the day we visited, the carvery included:
I had beef, and Ian had a slice of each meat, and we helped ourselves to veg.
They were very generous with the meat portions, and we filled up with as much veg as we wanted!
The food was hot, nicely cooked and tasted good - it was nicely filling. Nothing fancy... but nice! And all at a very good price! We could see the camping site out of the window, and it looked a nice, quiet and friendly little place to stay...
