We visited the Whitby Indian Tandoori Restaurant for a meal out.

We had a lovely evening meal at one of the Indian restaurants in Whitby - 'The Whitby Indian Tandoori Restaurant'.

This restaurant is right in the railway station complex, over looking the station platforms.

The Whitby Indian Tandoori Restaurant is medium sized, and very friendly, with a relaxed, and comtemporary dining feel.

The staff were friendly, and very attentive - when the waiter saw me commenting about the fan behind me, he came over to ask if it was bothering me - it wasn't - it was useful because it was so hot that day!

The atmosphere was quiet and relaxed (it was a Monday evening in July - about 6.30-7pm).

We had poppadoms to start, which came with some very tasty dips - nice and mild.

Our food came quickly.

I had Chicken Tikka Malaya.

And we also had:

• Lemon rice
• Bhindi Bhaji
• Garlic naan

There was a nice amount - the meal was filling, but we weren't too full.

The food was very tasty - it was delicately flavoured, not too hot, so that you could taste the spices and different flavours - lovely!

For dessert, we both had mango 'kulfi' (Indian ice cream). It, too, came nicely presented, in a little glass with cream, sprinkles and a fancy cocktail umbrella :o)

Ian had a Kingfisher, and a Cobra Zero (alcohol free).

They brought over lovely hot towels at the end of the meal, and with the bill brought complementary shots of plum brandy (we think!!) and a chocolate mint.

Our meal for 2 came to around £40.

This was great food, with very attentive service, and a nice, smart, but relaxed atmosphere.

We had a great time, and would visit again!
