Scarborough Park and Ride

Scarborough Park and Ride Information

Reviews and information about Scarborough Park and Ride. Avoid the crowds and traffic to Scarborough town centre, Yorkshire...

It wasn't intentional, but we used the Scarborough P&R service on the very first day that it was open...

We used the Seamer Road Service: no. #64

  • There are 2 Park and Ride sites:
    • Filey Road (off the A165)(no.#165)
    • Seamer Road (off the A64 - the main route into Scarborough) (no. #64)
  • The car parks were very spacious (600 spaces) with CCTV coverage for security.

  • The small terminal building was modern, clean, and with nice clean toilets and a covered waiting area.
  • Normally, you should be able to purchase tickets from a machine (taking cards as well as cash) but we bought our ticket on the bus.
  • Fares are quite reasonable - 90p single, or £1.80 return for an adult, and the journey was very quick - certainly no more than 10 minutes.
  • From Seamer Road, get off at the first stop - Aquarium Top - for the sea front...
  • For the town centre use any of the next 3 stops:
    • Harcourt Place
    • St Thomas Street
    • York Place
  • From the Filey Road P&R, the first stop is for the University - but then the bus routes are as above.

  • The buses follow the same circular route around the town. This did lead to some confusion in town, on the way back - both for us, and for other people also attempting to get back to their cars (use any of the same stops.)
  • We first of all caught the wrong bus, (as did another family) but realised our mistake in time, and caught the Seamer Road service at the next stop.
  • Collect a leaflet at the terminal, or on the bus, to make sense of the routes and the bus stops. Most importantly though, just pay attention, and make sure that you get back onto the correct service in town:
    • No.#64 for Seamer Road P&R
    • No.#165 for Filey Road P&R
  • Buses run from around 7am to 7pm every day, at intervals of every 12 minutes - or more frequently at busy times.

We found the Scarborough Park and Ride service to be quick and convenient (even with our mistake catching the wrong bus!) and would certainly try it again.
