Whitby Abbey Last Light Of The Day
by Ian Barber
(Doncaster)
Whitby Abbey
I have just taken the plunge and started my New Photography Business.
This is a picture of the Abbey at Whitby, the reason why this particular composition caught my eye was the Sun Beams just poking through the clouds.
I am hoping to return here soon plus a few more locations on the East Coast of Yorkshire to see what other photos I can capture.
Thanks for looking

Hello Ian
Thank you very much for sharing your Whitby Abbey photo - it's truly stunning!
Those sunbeams look like moon-beams, and it lends a very ghostly air to the Abbey - which suits it's association with the Dracula legend really well!
Lovely reflections, too :o)
Very atmospheric - I love it!
Good luck with your new photography business - do let us know how you get on, and share some more of your great Yorkshire coast photos with us, from time to time.
Thanks for sharing.
Best wishes
Charlotte :o)

Whitby West Pier
by Ian Barber
(Doncaster)
Whitby West Pier
This is a view down the West Pier at Whitby. The West Pier attract lots of fishermen all throgh the year.
At the entrance to the pier is a lighthouse which for a small fee, you can climb the spiral staircase all the way to the top and experience a birds eye view of this spectacular fishing town.

St Mary Church Whitby

Perched on the cliff top is St Marys Church where most of Bram Stokers inspiration came from as he wrote his Dracula novel.

Great photo, Ian, thanks for sharing. It's very atmospheric, and an unusual angle.
Whitby looks very old-fashioned (which it is!) and I love those dark clouds brooding.
Love it!
Charlotte :)

I paint all around Yorkshire but the East coast in particular. My favourite painting location is Staithes, a beautiful fishing village ten miles north of Whitby.
My paintings feature the coast from Spurn Point up to Staithes.

Hungry Sheep in the Egton Snow
Here are some beautiful Whitby snow scenes from the recent snow (Nov-Dec 2010)...
Whitby really does look idyllic in the snow! Wonderful!
All these images are courtesy of Real Whitby, and with copyright retained by them...
Real Whitby are making these images available in the hope that you'll buy some and help raise money for the R.N.L.I. - the designated charity of 'Real Whitby'...
The R.N.L.I. is an incredibly important charity for Whitby, and does vital life-saving work out there in the sea - even in (and especially in) horrible and dangerous stormy weather - so they really do deserve our support...
The R.N.L.I. receives no funding from the government, and rely on donations and support from the general public to continue their life-saving work....
For more details, and to buy the images shown (plus loads more equally as fantastic) - please see the Real Whitby Winter Snow Gallery, here...
