How I Work at Home...

I wanted to tell you all about how and why I built this website - a website that actually helps to earn me money and allows me to live an independent life!

My Story...

The reason I built it is because I wanted to, and because my first website pretty much looks after itself, and earns me money at the same time.... I needed another little project to work on!

Here's what happened...

In January 2007 I got ill with some kind of 'flu, and from that developed M.E. (Chronic Fatigue Symdrome/Post Viral Syndrome/CF-IDS).

Although I tried many times, there was no way that I was able to go back to work...

As both I and my former employers realised that this was going to be a long term illness, I knew that, ill as I was, I still really needed another way of earning money...

I did investigate lots of work at home options. I needed something that I could do completely on my terms, as and when I was feeling up to it...

...but it had to be something that wouldn't suffer if I wasn't up to working and had to just abandon it for a while...

As you can imagine, or might have experienced yourself, what I found was plenty of get-rich-quick schemes and lots of scams... not exactly what I had in mind!

Finding Out...

I came across SBI on a website about M.E. where I was looking for health and information about my illness. The girl who wrote the website had M.E. but she had still managed to build that website, and she even used it to earn money.... tell me more!

As I read about SBI, the company who makes this possible, I started to think that I could do this too. After a lot of deliberation, I signed up, and started thinking about what I could do my website about...

My first website... and first success!

My first website is actually about interior design - one of my keen interests. I did not know much about computers or websites, and even less about using a website to run a business and earn money, so I read all the information and action guides very carefully...

Although SBI tell you about all the other success stories that have happened, and encourage you to aim for this sort of success too, I was actually surprised when it all started working for me too - but very pleased of course!

Now my interior design website gets around 3,000 visitors a day, it is in the top 1% of websites worldwide and earns me enough to so that I don't have to think about taking on a 'proper' job...!

I started this as my second website. As my first website needed less and less attention I wanted another little 'project' to work on...

I love getting out and about exploring the Yorkshire coast with my husband, Ian (and also my greyhound, Ginger) - it's an area I really love, and it only feels right that I should share it with other people and let them get to know it's hidden corners too...

This website is still relatively new, but is so far doing very well, making me a profit, and I hope, in time, will be doing just as well as my first website. I already have anywhere from 700 to almost a thousand visitors every day...

I am now cured from M.E./C.F.S. (following a course in The Lightning Process' which I did in November 2010)...

This has allowed me to start working on my third wesbite, all about designing my own garden at home...

UPDATE - August 2011: All my websites are going well - and I've just started on my 4th website (and what will probably be my last for a while)...

It's a topic complementary to this, and another place that's close to my heart, as well as my home - York City - so I'll be adding further details on this site, in due course!

Why I love SBI

I love to be able to spend my 'working life' writing about topics that interest me, and places that I love.

It hardly feels like work at all - which is why I think it works so well for me.

I like to be able to wake up gradually, no nasty alarm clocks for me!

(I've even learned to sleep right through my husband's alarm clock too!)

After taking my dog for a walk (that's another thing I was able to get now I don't have to go to an office job - a retired racing greyhound!) - I can have a leisurely breakfast, checking on my personal emails and social-networking sites, before starting on my websites...

If I want to take a break, or accompany my husband on a business trip, I have no worries about taking a few hours off or even the whole day, or week...

I know my website will be right there waiting for me, and will even be earning me money all the time I'm resting and relaxing...

No deadlines, no commitment, no fixed hours, my own choice of topics and subject matter... I think I've got the best job in the world...
